Kidville Birthday Parties are legendary! We take pride in making every bash customized to every birthday child’s wildest wishes. A birthday party can be inspired by a child’s favorite character, color or even their favorite book. We were thrilled when our Early Childhood Development Director wanted to create a party around one of Kidville’s favorite authors, Eric Carle!
Where to begin with such classics as The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Brown Bear, Brown Bear? A team of Kidville Party Planners collaborated to bring Eric Carle’s magical world to life through balloons, decor, art projects and more to celebrate Hudson’s 1st Birthday! We began by turning to one of our favorite inspirational sources, PINTEREST! We scoured blogs and recipes to find the most jaw-dropping ideas to get our party gears turning. Armed with some super exciting ideas, we began to source some very special details. Here is a sneak peak at our shopping list:
Wondering how it all came together? Well, here is a tour of our custom Eric Carle Birthday Bash!
We filled the Kidville Party Space with our signature confetti-filled and polka-dot balloons while using an Eric Carle board book to serve as creative balloon weights. We spiced up our basic paper goods with confetti table runners and wheat grass center pieces! So inexpensive and yet gives each table an amazing sensory and tactile focal point. In the far corner, you can see our Kidville Dessert Table!
First, how incredibly adorable is our Birthday Family? Don’t you just want to squeeze Hudson’s cheeks?! Floating above them you can see one of our most popular details – THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR BALLOON SCULPTURE! We simply hung a series of green balloons at varying heights then added a red balloon with a crafted face made of pipe cleaners. This made every child smile at the party!
Wow – THE CAKE! We contacted our trusted vendor, The Perfect Cake, who hand crafted this masterpiece. The best part – the inside was FUNFETTI. It was not only delicious but fit the theme from inside out!
Perhaps the most genius idea – Wheat Grass + Cake Pops = An Edible Very Hungry Caterpillar. We ordered slabs of fresh cut wheat grass from, Design By Ahn, and then inserted green cake pops and one red cake pop with a caterpillar face. Not only is the wheat grass adorable but serves as a convenient holder for the edible cake pops! We also served Sprinkles cupcakes and small fruit cups for the little ones.
At Kidville we love to start every party with an interactive experience. For children under 18 months old, we incorporated some of our signature Run, Wiggle, Paint and Giggle Toys. The babies loved our caterpillar made of blocks. The older guests got to work designing their own board book. We used washable markers, self-adhesive foam shapes and tons of imagination!
All of Hudson’s friends then had a blast climbing, jumping and playing in the Kidville Gym! We wanted to incorporate Hudson’s favorite band, Rockin’ Railroad! We invited his teachers to perform a 30 minute concert. The kids had a blast dancing and singing! And what party would be complete without Kidville Bubble Time.
After singing, dancing and playing all the guests circled back to the Kidville Party Space for pizza and cake. Did you know that Kidville seats guests under 18 months in a high chair? This makes feeding easy and stress-free for parents. Also, it’s a total PHOTO OP!
Time for the Birthday Cake! The Kidville Staff’s job was to create an environment where Hudson’s parents could relax and enjoy the party while Hudson and his guests feel ultra special and VIP! They were just as excited as Hudson’s family to sing the Birthday Song!
Each guest left with a custom Melissa and Doug party favor. Kidville specializes in sourcing age-appropriate favors. We also wrap, tag and bag each gift for you.
The day after the party we received this incredible email from Hudson’s Mommy and Daddy:
Where do I begin? The cake pops? The real grass? The caterpillar balloon? The CAKE?! The candy- the candy table?! The staff?! For reals I don’t even know how to thank you ALL for throwing Hudson the best party he will ever have!!! It is, for the record, his best day ever! Josh and I couldn’t have imagined anything more for Hudson. I hope that everyone will want you all to customize their events in the future! I know they will from the overwhelming messages I have gotten from friends and family. I even had someone ask if you guys do bris’s and/or bar mitzvahs! No joke!
Not only are you guys the greatest friends but you are so talented and I love you all SO MUCH!
