What are the best classes for a baby under 1 on the Upper West Side?

For babies under one, music and gym classes offer the most to see, hear and do. Every class at this age is a parent-and-child class; our guide to mommy and me classes on the Upper West Side explains what the grown-up does. Kidville music classes welcome newborns and are led by a live band. Our guide to music classes for babies on the Upper West Side shows what happens in a class. At 6 months, gym classes add obstacle courses, giant blocks, the Tumbl Trak and indoor swings sized for new movers.

Early play may help development: the American Academy of Pediatrics explains that play builds healthy brains and bodies. A weekly class turns that play into a routine, and during a long New York winter it gets you both out of the apartment. This guide is general information, not medical advice.
